Instruction Coach Models A Lesson Using a Behaviour Technique
Christine December 5, 2023

The Instruction Coach Models a Lesson Using a Behaviour Technique
Instruction Coach Claire is supporting new teacher Rebecca by teaching a maths lesson in her class. Throughout the lesson, Claire is demonstrating how to incorporate positive feedback to students who are displaying expected classroom behaviour.
Rebecca notes down when positive feedback is given, carefully identifying the strategies being used, such as when a student raises their hand instead of blurting out the answers.
At the end of the lesson, Claire and Rebecca plan a time to meet at the end of the day to review the lesson and discuss the observation. They will review the school-wide expectations and plan some strategies for Rebecca to try herself. Once she is comfortable with the practice, Claire will observe Rebecca’s best practices and continue to meet to reinforce the practice throughout the year.
