The School Team is not Engaging with Community
The team member impacts ability to engage with community.
The Problem is Compounded
The school team:
- does not promote improvements to the school environment
- does not show parents or the community how the school is supporting their children
- does not invite or create opportunities for parents to visit the classroom, which leads parents to disengaging from the improvement of their child’s education opportunities
- does not demonstrate positive high-expectations strategies or encourage parents to reinforce them at home
- does not involve parents in problem-solving discussions about their child’s learning
- does not create opportunities for the school to engage with the community and community leaders
- does not promote the community’s involvement in developing and achieving the school’s vision and improvement targets, which leaves the community disengaged from the school and its vision for students
- does not empower parents to support their child’s education
- does not engage parents to increase their commitment to improving the students’ education opportunity
- does not share examples of their child’s work to provide example of their growth
- does not share with parents highlights of achievements and challenges of their child that require the parent’s attention
- does not celebrate the parent’s success in supporting their child.
