Does Not Follow Through on Interventions
One of the most important ways that a teacher can participate on the PHET is to follow through on the interventions that are decided upon at the meeting. When this does not happen, the team is unable to gauge if the interventions are effective. The team may also need to expand the amount of time they were going to focus on those interventions because they weren’t enacted with urgency. This prevents the team from being able to move on to other issues that also need addressing.
When a teacher does not follow through on interventions decided upon by the PHET, the teacher:
- does not review notes taken during the meeting to ensure full understanding of their responsibilities for implementation
- does not enact any of the suggestions made during the meeting in their teaching or behaviour management plan
- does not provide students with the support they need to make progress on their goals
- does not ask clarifying questions if uncertainty arises during the implementation stage
- does not take notes on the progress made with interventions.
