Teacher Celebrations
Principal Zachary is hosting a team meeting after school to hold teacher celebrations for the end of the first term. He wants to show his staff that he appreciates their continuous efforts in teaching students and continuing their professional learning journey.
During the meeting, Zachary recognises teachers that had the most student growth in each subject area. He also recognises teachers who have received certification in their professional learning journey thus far. Zachary calls attention to one teacher, Elizabeth, who has not only received certification but also shown proven success in student engagement and learning outcomes using positive motivation strategies in the classroom.

Elizabeth shares with her peers how she set up a data wall in the form of a race car track. The students created and decorated their cars. Every time they showed mastery for a checkout, they got to move up on the track. When they reached the finish line, they got a prize. The race started over every fortnight. Her learning outcomes increased by 25 per cent since implementing this strategy and continue to increase.
Zachary not only loves the student growth, but also the student motivation and engagement for learning. He makes it a priority for the teaching team to replicate a similar data wall to implement in their classrooms. He monitors student learning over the next month and tracks the growth as a whole school since all teachers began implementing the positive motivation strategy.
