What Happens When Providing Improvement Updates to the School Community is not Delivered with Fidelity

When teaching teams are not sharing student progress and accomplishments with the community, they are not providing positive reinforcement opportunities from parents which could motivate students to reach for higher goals. This is a missed opportunity for teaching teams to use the data to improve teaching and learning.

The problem is compounded.

The principal:

  • does not set the Community Compact with parents to discuss progress of goals.
  • data on improvements has not been collected, analysed and shared with the school community (on board near the entrance of the school).
  • does not meet with all team members to discuss the Term School Improvement Review Report and the key findings so that the teaching team can talk to parents about it.
  • Does not disseminate the findings to parents, families and community leaders
  • Does not meet with local community leaders in-person to review the report within a week of issuing.
