Teacher Sets Up Schedule
Before Term 2 begins, teacher, Arthur, prepares to schedule parent classroom visits. Arthur wants to ensure that every parent can experience the classroom’s learning environment and see how their child performs both academically and behaviourally.

Arthur understands that parents have busy schedules, so he builds a timetable with three dates and times to provide all parents with options, increasing the likelihood that more parents will be able to visit the classroom once this term. On the first day of Term 2, Arthur sends out this schedule to all students’ families by email as well as on a paper letter for students to take home.
Throughout the first week of Term 2, Arthur contacts all parents in his classroom. Some parents he greets at pick up time. Other parents he contacts by phone or email. In these conversations, Arthur ensures that all parents have been notified of the open classroom dates. Based on each parent’s feedback, Arthur fills in the three slots of his classroom visits timetable with parent names.
In the week before parents are expected to visit, Arthur connects again with parents via email, phone call, paper letter and at pick up time to provide a reminder and ensure their upcoming attendance. Arthur also gets his students excited about the classroom visits, building their anticipation in the days prior to a visit and encouraging students to remind their parents as well.
