Responsibility for Improvement is not Shared with the Leadership Team

Responsibility for improvement is not shared with the leadership team.

The Problem is Compounded

  • When the responsibility for whole school improvement is not shared among the school community and is solely up to the principal, the school vision becomes fragmented.
  • Leadership do not provide feedback and acknowledge successes with the school team, which leads to a lack of support from team members towards school improvement goals.
  • The teaching team do not recognise the importance of providing student data to the leadership team.
  • Team members are not open to feedback and so are not improving their teaching techniques or embedding school practices.
  • Ultimately, this compromises the effectiveness of school improvement as it cannot be achieved by the principal alone and needs all school team members to participate.
