Set Up for Lower Years Small Group DI Program Instruction
In small group instruction, the seating is often a semicircle of closely spaced chairs near enough to the teacher to allow easy interaction. Students are close enough to view the Presentation Book, and teachers can interact with students through physical prompts and congratulatory gestures.
Low performers are seated toward the centre to allow the teacher to closely monitor their responses and hold their attention. Higher performers are seated at the ends of the semicircle or if the group is large a second row can be added.

A second group is taught by the trained teaching assistant. Students are seated the same way as the group with the teacher.
A third group works on independent work with supervision from another teaching assistant or by themselves if no adult is available.
