The Teacher Teaches Expected Behaviours
Teacher CJ sets up assigned seating for their three groups during reading and language instruction. While figuring out assigned seats for students in each group they think about which students may be distracted by another student and which students are the lower performers of the group.

CJ moves the furniture around the room so they can see all areas of the room where students will be working. They also check that their teaching assistant can also see all areas. CJ checks to ensure that all students in the group can see the presentation book.
At the beginning of each period CJ reminds students of the behaviour expectations during the lesson and the routines they are to follow.
During instruction CJ scans the room frequently to make sure students are on task but does not move around the room much as students are in small, supervised groups. All students are seated in their assigned seats. CJ and their teaching assistants have the lower performing students front and centre and can hear all students answer in the group.
