The School Team is not Engaging with Community
When teachers do not share student data with parents, they are not engaging with the community to show support.
The Problem is Compounded
The school team:
- does not show parents or the community how the school is supporting their children
- does not invite or create opportunities for parents to visit the classroom, which leads parents to disengaging from improving their child’s educational opportunities
- does not demonstrate positive high expectations strategies or encourage parents to reinforce them at home
- does not involve parents in problem solving discussions about their child’s learning
- does not create opportunities for the school to engage with the community and community leaders
- does not promote the community’s involvement in developing and achieving the school’s vision and improvement targets, which leaves the community disengaged from the school and its vision for students.
