Student Expectations Are Unclear and Need Defining
Craig, an experienced teacher, usually spends time explicitly teaching rules and routines to his class at the start of a new school year. This year, he got a promotion and has been very busy with paperwork. His classroom is disorganised, and his students are not clear on what is expected of them. This chaos is affecting their learning. Because of the lack of structure and predictability and the lack of time spent on setting up rules and routines early in the year, his students are disengaged and unlikely to improve.
