Not Using Individual Turns Effectively

Teacher, Cassy, does not Give Individual Turns 

Cassy’s language group is working on a lesson that has eight exercises. Cassy is trying to get through the lesson quickly to improve the group’s lesson progress.  

She decides to skip individual turns as she feels it takes too much time. Cassy thinks her students are firm on all skills in the exercises when they chorally respond. 

Cassy assigns the independent work for the lesson. While she is actively monitoring, she notices that several students are not completing their independent work correctly.  

Cassy stops the group and reteaches the group the skills they have not mastered. Cassy is not improving the group’s lesson progress as she must take time to reteach the areas students are not at mastery on.
