The Teacher Does Not Contribute to Building a High-Expectations Culture

As teacher, Benjamin, starts the next unit, he does not use positive motivation strategies. He thinks that his students are simply unmotivated, which explains why they aren’t making the progress they should. Benjamin covers his bulletin boards with motivational posters, hoping that will make a difference. He takes down any data walls that he had started because he does not want to display his students’ scores. He adjusts his expectation of moving through one lesson a day to try to get through three lessons per week.
