Student Impacts: Scenario
Step 1: Teacher, Sophie, notices a recurring issue in her classroom. Many of her students seem uncertain about their learning tasks, leading to confusion and inefficiency during lessons. Recognising the importance of clarity and structure in fostering student success, Sophie identifies a problem: students lack a clear understanding of what to do, how to do it, and when they should do it.
Step 2: Sophie decides to implement a structured approach to address the issue. She begins by drafting Individualised Plans for each student, using data to identify specific learning goals tailored to their needs. Sophie utilises the Learning Goals Matrix to ensure that the goals are appropriate and aligned with curriculum standards.

Step 3: Implementing the Individualised Plans, Sophie selects adjustments from the Adjustments Matrix to provide necessary support and accommodations for each student. She also incorporates instructional strategies from the Instructional Strategies Matrix to facilitate skill remediation and reteaching as needed. Over time, Sophie observes that students are more engaged in learning, and behaviour problems are minimised as they have clear guidance on what is expected of them.
Step 4: Across several weeks of implementation, Sophie witnesses positive impacts on her students. They now know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it, resulting in increased feelings of learning success and confidence. Students have ample opportunities to master skills and are able to perform exercises confidently during group activities, individual turns, and independent work. Sophie observes that students experience easier learning and accelerated progress, achieving mastery of content at the expected standard.
