Sentence skills (Where, Who, When,

What, Why and Questioning Exercises)

‘Sentence skills’ exercises lay the foundation for grammatical analysis by focusing on some of the properties of sentences.

In ‘who, what, when, where, why’ exercises, students learn to look for the parts of sentences that answer Key Questions. Students learn sentence-analysis and question-answering skills that are important to reading comprehension. Students begin by analysing sentences for where, followed by who, when, what and why.

‘Questioning skills’ begin in lesson eighteen on worksheet pages and in lesson twenty-five as a verbal activity. The track continues to the end of the program.

It shows students how to gain information through efficient questioning. In early exercises, students ask specific questions to determine what object the Teacher is thinking of.
