RMSE-LA 5 Conjunctions, contractions

and combining sentences

ConjunctionsConjunctions are the final part of speech introduced in RMSE-LA 5 in lesson ninety.

With knowledge of conjunctions students are able to diagram compound and complex sentences.

ContractionsFrom lesson eight, students review how contractions are formed and punctuated. They work on editing exercises and determine whether appropriate contractions are applied.

In lesson fourteen, students edit passages with contraction usage errors.

Combining sentencesRMSE-LA 5 features various exercises on combining sentences and information from multiple sentences to form a single efficient sentence.

In lesson ninety-two, students form a single sentence by including information that tells what kind or how many. From lesson ninety-five, students combine sentences using and, but and or.
