Pacing

Rapid-paced, teacher-directed instruction is effective.

Appropriate pacing emphasises oral communication skills. All students benefit from increasing communication skills, especially students from non-English speaking and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Appropriate pacing allows students more practice on each skill. Appropriate pacing increases the rate of correct student responses and is less taxing to student memory.

Appropriate pacing decreases disruptive behaviour as when students are engaged there is less down time.
