Empowers Students to Gain Confidence

in their Learning Abilities

Teacher Xavier’s students are sitting for their maths mastery test. After reviewing the results Xavier sees that two-thirds of his class have not passed the parts that deal with word problems. He tells the class that they are going to review word problems so they can try again on part three and five. He remediates the students on the word problem parts. Xavier retests them the next day and all students pass both parts. He praises them for their learning, attention to detail and how proud he is to see them mastering the content.

Teacher Willow is teaching language to her Prep students. One part of the mastery test has students identify the parts of a table. Some of her students do not pass that part as they say leg instead of legs.

Willow tells her students that is a tough one to remember and they are going to practise it again. She remediates her students giving them a lot of practice until she is sure they are firm. Willow then retests her students; they all pass the part. She praises them for their hard work and how proud she is of them. This shows students they can do hard work and gain confidence in their learning abilities.
