Track Design

A track design approach is used in Expressive Writing 1–2. The track is a series of exercises that is ongoing and teaches a particular skill or topic at a time.

Within each track, the difficulty level of the exercises gradually increases. Students start with relatively simple examples and move on to more difficult ones.

The track design enables teachers to introduce a manageable amount of new information while providing the students with practise of what they have been taught previously. The scope and sequence for Expressive Writing is a teacher resource. This resource allows teachers to plan which lessons skills are introduced and taught, and which require practise over a few lessons.
