All signals have five parts:

Regardless of the signal used, these five parts remain consistent.

Focus

The teacher asks a question and gives a direction.

Think time

The amount of think time varies according to the difficulty of the task.

Cue

Depending on the task, the teacher says, “Get ready”, “What word?”, or “What sound?”

Interval

The amount of time between the cue and signal is always one second.

Signal

Teacher uses a hand drop, snap, tap, clap or holding up a finger.
