Team Members are Unable to Use Data to Make Informed Decisions

When team members are not using data, they are not able to make informed decisions about what is going well and what is not. They cannot identify successes and challenges or share them with peer schools.

The Problem is Compounded

The teacher and instruction coach:

  • do not collect and track school or classroom data daily depending on the role in the school
  • do not regularly examine data paying attention to patterns of success and difficulty
  • cannot reflect on how their professional learning impacts student learning or work out which techniques and practices they need to improve to increase student growth.

The principal or instruction coach:

  • does not examine data to identify patterns of success and challenges
  • does not reflect on how their professional learning impacts student learning and what they need to improve to increase student growth.
