What Happens When School Teams are not Using Evidence to Discuss Successes and Challenges with Peer Schools with Fidelity

When the teaching team does not use classroom and school data to identify and share evidence-based learning, successes and challenges, the school community does not improve in their use of effective teaching. Teachers do not gain new ideas for how to address challenges and student outcomes do not improve.

Since school professional conversations are how the teaching team strengthens relationships and learns from one another, teachers are not building collaborative relationships and less experienced teachers are not learning from those with more experience.

When the school team is not having conversations with peer schools, relationship building and information sharing between schools are not occurring. Successes are not being shared and challenges are not being addressed and solved.

The Problem is Compounded

  • The team is unable to make informed decisions.
  • The team is unable to celebrate positive outcomes.
  • The team does not build a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • The school team does not participate in collegial conversations.
