My 21-month-old son loves water. He attends swimming lessons once a aweek and is entranced by the watert table we recently got him. He lights up and giggles when it’s bathtime each evening. He even had a blast on his first canoe “trip” on Father’s Day.
But… he is still in his little whale baby tub and we can’t get him to transition out of it. He is getting too big for it, but he scrunches up to make himself fit or he sticks his legs out over the bottom edge (he likes to recline in the water). We’ve been using the baby tub IN the big tub for almost a year, so he’s used to that, but if we place him in the big tub, he immediately cries like the world is ending. We tried a bath seat – same reaction. He only wants his tiny tub…. which is not going to work for much longer.
Any tips for transitioning a toddler to the full-size bathtub? Any one else have a kid who clung to his baby bathtub?
